MP Gudie Hutchings is excited to invite youth ages 16-24 to apply as a member of this year’s Long Range Mountains Constituency Youth Council.
The deadline for applications is Friday, October 27th, 2017.
Your Member of Parliament wants to hear from youth in the community and is inviting all students in grade 10-12, and post-secondary from your school to apply to the Constituency Youth Council. The CYC is open for applications until October 27th and will include youth from different schools, neighborhoods and local associations. Once selected, the council will meet several times, through the year, to discuss important issues that matter to you, your community and your country.
The Long Range Mountains Youth Council will be composed of young Canadians between the ages of 16-24 who will meet several times each year with MP Gudie Hutching’s office to discuss important issues that matter to you, your community and your country. Following the example of our Prime Minister and Minister of Youth, Justin Trudeau, the feedback gathered in our discussions will be used to understand the perspective of youth in the decisions the government makes.
Youth that are selected for the council will also learn about the Canadian political process, different issue areas under federal jurisdiction, gain valuable leadership skills and earn volunteer hours. Each member will also earn a certificate at the end of the Youth Council. The length of the Youth Council’s term is a full school year, spanning November 2017 to June 2018.
To join the Long Range Mountains Youth Council, all you have to do to apply is fill out the application and email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for applications is Friday, October 27th, 2017.
