Michael McGowan, also known as “The Scottish Butcher”, was born in Scotland. In 1967, the year the Leafs won the cup, Michael moved to Brampton. At the age of 13 he began working in the Scottish Butcher Shop. Michael claims h is decision to settle in Corner Brook was “pure good luck”. While on vacation three years ago, his travels brought him to Newfoundland and he simply fell in love with everything Corner Brook had to offer. Michael never lost sight of his childhood and saw the need for a butcher shop in Corner Brook. With over 30 years of experience, the doors of McGowan’s Quality Meats opened in Corner Brook October 2007. Michael states “The day of personal meat service isn’t dead”.
