THE ARMORIAL BEARINGS OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCILLORS OF
THE CITY OF CORNER BROOK

On the Grant of Arms, the Armorial Ensigns are described by the Kings of Arms in heraldic terms as follows:

Per chevron Vert and Barry wavy of eight Azure and Argent in chief a Pale wavy Argent thereon a Pallet wavy Azure between two Newfoundland Fir Trees eradicated Or all within a Bordure quarterly of the last and Argent charged with eight Maple Leaves in their Autumn colours proper  And for the Crest  On a Wreath Argent and Vert a Mount Vert thereon a Northern Pitcher Plant flowered and leaved proper.

In understanding this mediaeval English and French terminology, the key words are the colours (tinctures), which come after the devices they describe.  These arms show Vert (green), Azure (blue), Argent (silver), and Or (gold).
