City of Corner Brook’s Website Is Completely Revamped

The City of Corner Brook has re-designed and added much more content to www.cornerbrook.com. The new website went live over the past weekend.

The design is relatively simple. The main menu titles of Residents, Visitors, Business, & City Hall have sub-menus of various topics of interest. The goal was to make the website userfriendly and easy to navigate.

“We are very excited to present the new website to the community. It will provide more information about all the initiatives at city hall. As well, we hope it will become a source of information about the community-at-large.” stated Mayor Neville Greeley. City staff have written all new content to ensure information is fresh and information was researched to add community content. Community groups and events is a much needed addition to the website.

“In a recent study of post-secondary education students, staff, and faculty, they clearly wanted one source of information. We hope the city website will become the source”, says Trina  Burden, Business Resource Manager who lead the city website re-design project. A couple of years ago the City partnered with the provincial government on an Immigration portal project. “At the time it was difficult to find information for the project. That research helped us create the Newcomer’s Guide available on the Residents page and became the start of the work for the community content on the website” Ms. Burden continues.

The website is designed with a Content Management System in which city staff have been trained to load new content on a regular basis. The website also has a community event form for groups in the community to submit their event to be posted on the calendar of events. An email account website@cornerbrook.com was also created for the public to send more information that could be added to a section. These systems will help keep the website always current.
