Infrastructure

The City of Corner Brook has developed an infrastructure and support network that offers all services available in larger Canadian municipalities. Corner Brook is committed to providing its residents, visitors, and business community with the most advanced supports and services to maintain a high standard of life and enhance economic growth. 

Corner Brook has an established a water and sewer system that can support most business operations. The city continues to grow with increased residential construction and increased value of building permits (over 350% increases in value from 2006 to 2007). In an effort to encourage and welcome future residential and business development, Corner Brook has planned for major capital investment projects.

To put things into perspective, from 2009-2012, Corner Brook anticipates to take part in $100 million worth of capital investment projects. These major infrastructure projects are cost shared through various levels of government and illustrates the city’s dedication towards civic enhancement.  Some of these projects include:

• A new energy efficient City Hall 
• A road improvement program
• Upgrades to the existing bus transit system
• Development of a bicycle transit system
• A new water treatment facility

In addition, the provincial government has significant infrastructure projects recently completed and upcoming.

• Law courts opened May 2010
• Long term care home  opened June 2010
• A new hospital being planned
