What is the Facade Appeal Comprehensive Enhancement (FACE) Grant Program
The Facade Appeal Comprehensive Enhancement (FACE) Grant Program endeavours to enhance the physical appearance and economic vitality of commercial properties by providing funding and cash incentives to property owners/businesses for redesign, renovation or restoring the properties facade.
The FACE Program encourages commercial property owners/businesses to invest in various storefront enhancements landscaping and improved accessibility.
Cash incentives will be provided to property owners/businesses immediately on certification of completed work. Maximum financial incentive will be $10,000 for one property (with a clear civic address).
The Program runs concurrent to the City’s fiscal year schedule (January 1 – December 31). Applications will be received throughout the year until all funds are committed.
What are the benefits?
You only get one chance to make a first impression and the entrance to your business is where first impressions are formed.
A renovated facade can help to improve the appearance of a business and a neighbourhood. Attractive facades contribute to an inviting environment, which draws more people and will appeal to potential customers– all of which may increase sales and profits of your business.
How is funding calculated?
Cash incentive will be lower of the two amounts calculated by Method 1 and Method 2, subject to a maximum of $10,000
|Method 1 (based on actual investment, net of HST)
||Method 2 (based on value of the commercial property)
Businesses only in the Downtown area, shall be eligible for 75% reimbursement (net of HST) of the cost of the blade signs including installation cost (subject to a maximum fixed limit).
As a special introductory offer, in 2019, 100% of costs (net of HST) will be reimbursed up to the maximum fixed limit.
Depending on the actual investments, approved projects are eligible to receive a maximum grant of up to $10,000. Blade signs have a different limit. When a business applies for both facade renovation and blade sign, they will be considered as separate projects. As a result, separate evaluation and separate financing limits will apply
Eligible applicants must be property owners/businesses of the building with storefronts clearly visible from a major street within the City of Corner Brook.
