This is Only a MOCK exercise–There is no risk to the public
For Immediate Release
The City of Corner Brook will be holding a full scale mock disaster response exercise on May 11, 2017 commencing at approximately 13:45 and continuing until 16:15 in the area of Corp. Pinksen Memorial Drive. This exercise will provide an opportunity for multiple agencies to practice their emergency response plans.
The City of Corner Brook will work with the following agencies to provide a response for this mock event and evacuation:
- Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
- Grenfell Campus-Memorial University
- Western Health
- Fire and Emergency Services-Newfoundland and Labrador (FES-NL)
- Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour-Red Cross
The aim of the exercise is to produce, as realistically as possible, an emergency scene that will enable emergency services agencies to practice their standard operating guidelines, emergency response plan, event coordination, and communication.
There is no risk to the public during this exercise.
The general motoring public is advised to use an alternate route. Traffic delays may occur in this area.
