At the Public meeting Monday, City Council announced the 2018 Community Grant recipients. The community grants aim to support initiatives that provide benefits to residents in our community.

The total amount awarded in 2018 is $247,000.

Through the Grant Program the City of Corner Brook focuses on the development of local partnerships, programs, projects, activities, events, services that respond to changing community needs and a viable, sustainable future.

This year seventeen organizations received Community Grants and four scholarships were awarded:

  • Western Regional Hospital Foundation
  • Sea Cadets
  • Corner Brook Rotary Music Festival
  • Western Environment Centre
  • CB Running Club
  • Gros Morne Summer Music
  • NL Public Libraries
  • Drama Festival
  • Railway Society
  • Blow Me Down Ski Club
  • Theatre NL
  • Winter Carnival
  • Board of Trade Tourist Chalet
  • YMCA
  • CB Museum and Archives
  • Corner Brook Stream Development Corp.

Scholarship and Awards

  • Craig Hiscock Memorial Award
  • CBRH Scholarship
  • CNA Scholarship
  • Grenfell Scholarship

In addition to providing Community Grants the City of Corner Brook provides operating and maintenance costs for space provided to the Bay of Islands Radio, Rotary Arts Centre; Bay of Islands Search & Rescue; and SPCA. We also provide a community room for non-profit groups to use at City Hall. These costs are estimated to be in excess of $100,000 per year.

Corner Brook City Council congratulates all the recipients of the 2018 Community Grants and thanks them for their important work.
