Media Advisory: City of Corner Brook Increasing Efforts Toward Pothole Repairs

City of Corner Brook
Media Advisory

Due to multiple severe temperature fluctuations this winter season, the City of Corner Brook is experiencing more potholes than usual. Accordingly, the Department of Public Works, Water and Wastewater has increased efforts to meet the challenge.

So far this year, the City has used 1,141 bags of cold mix asphalt (cold patch) on city streets. At this point last year, the City had used only 336 bags.

With spring approaching, and through the use of recently purchased asphalt reclaimer and asphalt hot box, City crews will begin utilizing hot asphalt to repair potholes. This type of repair is more cost-effective and longer-lasting.

City crews regularly patrol streets to identify potholes and other road deficiencies however, potholes can develop on a daily basis when temperatures begin to hover around zero degrees.

We are asking for the community’s assistance with these efforts. Citizens are encouraged to report potholes and other infrastructure needs through the 24/7 Customer Service Line: 709-637-1666. This method ensures that all repairs are tracked and actioned quickly.
