Consumers, Residents and Businesses
As part of the ongoing Combined Sewer Separation Project, The City of Corner Brook wishes to advise residents and businesses of a temporary construction detour beginning on June 18, 2018, as part of Phase III of the project.
The intersection of West Valley Road, Park Street and Central Street (Work Zone #1) will be temporarily closed to allow for construction to take place at the intersection.
Most noticeably, the City would like to advise residents that a portion of West Street will become 2-way traffic during this detour period (please refer to the enclosed traffic detour plan for more information).
Motorist heading to downtown (west of Main Street bridge) are encouraged to take O’Connell Drive and Mt Bernard Avenue to bypass the construction completely.
Motorist and consumers wishing to access the West Street downtown area are asked to take the following route;
- If heading west on West Valley Road, motorists are advised to take Humber Park. Follow detour signage (refer to enclosed traffic plan).
- If heading east on Park Street, motorists are advised to take Todd Street, then onto West Street. Follow detour signage (refer to enclosed traffic plan).
Local traffic will be allowed to access West Valley Road and Park Street during this detour. Please follow the direction of flags persons in the area.
The City of Corner Brook kindly asks motorists to obey all detour signage, reduce speeds, and be respectful to fellow motorists and flags persons.
The City of Corner Brook would like to thank you for your cooperation and patience for any inconvenience this may cause. The public can visit the City’s official website at www.cornerbrook.com at any time to view up-to-date notices and advisories.
