Backyard Composting Bins Are Available at City Hall

MEDIA ADVISORY
The City of Corner Brook has a limited number of bins available for back-yard composting. The City has teamed up with the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board to offer residents a compost bin for the price $44.99 and they can be picked up at City Hall.
Most uncooked kitchen waste and garden rubbish can be composted. Composting turns kitchen and garden waste into free nutrient-rich food for gardens and can be used on the vegetable garden, flower beds or placed around trees to improve soil structure and nutrient content.
Over 30 per cent of the average household waste can be composted, helping to reduce carbon emissions so we are encouraging residents to become involved. Home composting organic waste helps to significantly reduce carbon emissions
