“Reversed” Santa Claus Parade Coming December 12

MEDIA ADVISORY
The City of Corner Brook is very excited to announce its participation in a modified version of the Kinsmen Club of Corner Brook Santa Claus Parade.
The yearly event will look a little different this season, with residents driving vehicles through a special display in Corner Brook’s downtown core. It will be complimented by a special show of lights and art. The theme will be “Traditional Stories”, with local groups taking ownership of a story book cover which they will decorate and exhibit for the public to enjoy. The City will also decorate with lights and other displays. Any community groups or local businesses who wish to participate and adopt a story are encouraged to get in touch with Glenda Simms at gsimms@cornerbrook.com.
Over the next several weeks we will be consulting with local businesses in the downtown to ensure their needs are met and finalize details on the parade. In particular plans are being made to transport those who may want to see the display, but do not have a vehicle. All activities will be informed by Provincial COVID-19 safety protocols and further announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
Decorating will begin on December 1st, with the parade taking place on the evening of December 12th.
“After a hard year, it will be thrilling to host this creative event in our downtown core. The residents of Corner Brook are a resilient bunch, and we intend to keep this cherished tradition alive as a rewarding celebration. We are so pleased to join with the Kinsmen for this project and look forward to seeing everyone out on December 12th!”
- Mayor Jim Parsons.
