On-Street Parking Will Be Permitted New Year’s Eve

MEDIA ADVISORY
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Corner Brook Region, and the City of Corner Brook would like to advise the public that on-street parking will be allowed from 8:00 p.m. on Thursday December 31, 2020 to 8:00 a.m. on Friday January 1, 2021, weather permitting.
This initiative is in place to encourage residents to not drink or consume cannabis and drive. Residents should make a plan on how they will be getting home after their New Years’ celebrations. Walk, call a cab, arrange for a ride, or plan to stay the night.
This measure only applies to the winter ban for on-street parking. The RNC will be enforcing other sections of the Highway Traffic Act including parking to obstruct traffic, fire hydrants and sidewalks.
Residents and visitors will have until January 1st, 11:59 pm to remove a parked vehicle. In the event of a major storm, exceptions may apply and will be announced on the City of Corner Brook’s Website.
Please celebrate the holidays responsibly, and be mindful of COVID-19 measures for gatherings. You can read more about the Province’s regulations, here: www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19.
