Protect Our Woods: June 24 – 27, 2021

City of Corner Brook
MEDIA ADVISORY

Protect Our Woods is a brand new City initiative targeting the illegally dumped trash in our local wilderness. From June 24-27, 2021, ATV riders, mountain bikers, trail runners and hikers are encouraged to pick up garbage during their adventures. For those who participate, we have thousands of dollars of prizes available in the form of gift cards from local businesses.

A dumpster will be available at the Hew & Draw overflow parking lot at 29 Main Street for depositing the trash. If necessary, bags can be left at trailheads for pickup from Public Works. When deposited, participants must call 637-1666 to have their names entered for the random prize draw.

When you are out and about picking up the garbage or dropping it off be sure to take some photos, post them to social media, and use the hashtag #ProtectOurWoodsCB.

Illegal dumping in our region’s backcountry is a serious problem. To report illegal dumping within City limits please call 637-1666. To report suspected illegal activity outside municipal boundaries, including dumping or abandoned vehicles, call 1-877-820-0999 or go online at www.stoppoaching.ca.
