Corner Brook Day: August 7th

The City of Corner Brook will be celebrating its 65th birthday this coming weekend with a special lineup of activities for residents.
First up is a photo contest with the CORNER BROOK sign on West St. Participants are encouraged to post photos with the sign in our Event page on Facebook and they will be entered to win a Corner Brook Day picnic and ride on the Mill Whistler train on Saturday! The deadline will be 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5.
An outdoor market will be located on the First United Church Lawn on West St. from 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. with vendors and activities as well as live entertainment. A full list will be posted soon to our social medias and website. Residents are encouraged to come down town, browse locally made products from artisans and artists, and grab a bite nearby. At Margaret Bowater Park, entertainment will be playing throughout the day for those at the pool and the canteen will be open at 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
We also encourage residents, business and visitors to celebrate Corner Brook with a decorating contest. Dress up your houses, bikes, store fronts or yourselves with the colours Blue and Yellow, submit your photo on our event page photo, and you will be entered to win!
The Mill Whistler will be decorated for the occasion and running from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. When you take a ride feel free to wear yellow and blue.
And, last but not least, Gros Morne Summer Music will be holding two performances of “Barley Legge and the Loggers Dream”, a fantastic original play which takes place on the Corner Brook Stream Trail. These will take place at 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and are free to the public. Head to www.gmsm.ca for more information.
