At Monday night’s regular meeting, Corner Brook City Council approved a new collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 4386 (CUPE 4386).
The substantive changes that are included in the agreement are:
– Four year agreement from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2025;
– 8% wage increase over 4 years (2%, 2%, 2%, 2%);
– Wording clarifications and improvements.
The previous collective agreement expired on December 31, 2021. Negotiations began on January 12, 2022 for a new agreement. A tentative agreement was reached on January 13, 2022 using only internal resources at the bargaining table.
“The City of Corner Brook values its employees. Due to COVID-19, we’ve faced a litany of challenges over these last two years. The Civic Centre, in particular, has had to adapt and improvise to meet ever-changing public health requirements. Through it all, our staff continues to show its commitment and resilience. Congratulations and thank you to the negotiating teams for another productive bargaining session.” – Mayor Jim Parsons
