Community Preparedness Day Fire Safety Demonstrations: May 6

City of Corner Brook
MEDIA ADVISORY

The City of Corner Brook Fire Department is inviting members of the public to join them on Saturday May 6, 2023 for a BBQ and FireSmart safety demonstration at Margaret Bowater’s Park. As the summer approaches it is important to be mindful of combustible vegetation around your properties and in your neighborhoods. Firefighters will speak with the general public about what to look for and even conduct demonstrations on the Corner Brook Stream Trail path between the Park and the Glynmill Inn Pond! The whole family is encouraged to attend, learn more about reducing the risk of fire on their properties, and take a picture with Sparky the dog and Smokey the bear.

There is no cost for this event and it will take place between 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. There will be tools provided, such as shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows. The Corner Brook Fire Department is currently looking for volunteers for this event, if would like to participate please contact Justin Martineau at (709) 637-1611 or jmartineau@cornerbrook.com. If you are a volunteer and have the aforementioned equipment please bring it with you if possible. Safety Glasses and cotton gloves will be provided for those who need it.
