Advice for Extreme Heat Conditions

City of Corner Brook
MEDIA ADVISORY

Corner Brook and surrounding areas are expecting some high temperatures and humidity until this coming weekend.
During this stretch of extreme heat, residents are advised to:

  1. Stay hydrated!
  2. Stay indoors or in the shade where possible.
  3. Wear loose, breathable clothing.
  4. If you work outdoors, take breaks often.
  5. Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

NEVER leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. If you can, check on family, friends and neighbors to ensure they are comfortable. If someone is showing signs of heat exhaustion, seek medical help. The Margaret Bowater Park outdoor pool and splash pad are open daily for cooling down.
