Beginning Saturday, September 9th the Mount Bernard Reconstruction Project will enter a new phase with the following closures, openings and detours in place:

• Traffic will be able to access Wellington Street and side streets via Main Street and Mount Bernard Avenue.
• The new detour will be via O’Connell Drive, Bliss Street, Caribou Road, Poplar Road.

Transit stops on the lower portion of Mount Bernard will be in use again, however all other Mount Bernard Ave stops will close until further notice. New stops will be in place next to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary building on University Avenue. Transit will detour via Wellington Street / Citadel Drive/ O’Connell Drive. 

We ask that motorists use the designated detours as a thoroughfare and avoid the area unless they are local traffic to Mount Bernard, Wellington Street and adjacent side roads. Until further notice, on-street parking will be prohibited between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily in these areas. Please note that pedestrian access is restricted during these closures. These measures help reduce traffic volume in a residential neighborhood and increase safety for residents.
