Beginning Tuesday, June 10, progress on the Deep Gulch Culvert replacement will begin to move north across O’Connell drive with a phased approach.

In Phase 1, A lane closure of O’Connell Drive next to the Mt. Bernard / University Avenue intersection will occur, with a temporary bypass in place to allow two way traffic. Speed Limits in the area will be reduced to 30km/hr.

In Phase 2, O’Connell Drive will be closed from the intersection of Mt. Bernard / University Avenue to the Margaret Bowater Park parking entrances. This includes pedestrian traffic. Road users should seek alternate routes and Pedestrians may use either the Corner Brook Stream Trail, or Participark. Please note motorized vehicles and bicycles are not permitted on these trails.

In Phase 3, O’Connell Drive will reopen to traffic and University Drive will close to through traffic from the intersection of Canada Games Place to the Mount Bernard / O’Connell Drive intersection. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) and Academy Canada will have access to their parking lots.

Throughout this time EMERGENCY TRAFFIC ONLY will be allowed through the RNC parking lot.

Road users and pedestrians may access Cpl Pinksen Memorial Drive and University Drive and their amenities Elizabeth Street / Grenfell Drive.
