Councillor Bill Griffin

I was born and raised on 17 Samms Road, Corner Brook and have been a resident of the city my whole life. I retired with the rank of Deputy Fire Chief with the CBFD after 32 years of service. I served our city as a Level 2 Fire Inspector and as a Level 3 Fire Investigator. My beautiful wife Jackie (Dunphy) passed away in July after a courageous battle with cancer. We are blessed to have 3 children (Jody, Robyn -deceased, and Chris) and 3 precious grandchildren (Cole, Quinn and Jack). I am a former executive member with CB Minor Hockey, and served as trainer with the Senior Royals for 15+ years. In my pastime, I love music and singing. I have been involved with our Church Choir and a singing group known as the Griffins for years. I’m presently on the Board of Directors with the Humber Valley Community Living Corporation and the Deer Lake Airport Authority. In my first run at municipal politics, I was humbled to be elected to Council in 2017. Serving as Councillor and Deputy Mayor has been both a rewarding and fulfilling experience. One of the many highlights of my term has been involvement on the Host Executive for the Come Home Year Committee 2019. Wonderful to see numerous residents and former residents recognize and celebrate our beautiful city in such a way. These are the kinds of things that make me proud to call Corner Brook home, and motivate me to do what I can for its betterment.
