Across the province, general municipal elections are held every four years on the last Tuesday in September. In Corner Brook, voters choose one Mayor and six Councillors for City Council. Corner Brook operates under an “at-large” system in which its elected officials are elected to represent the City as a whole.
The Municipal Elections Act is established by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and outlines the administrative structure and requirements of the municipal election process. Under the Act, the City Clerk is responsible for conducting the elections in the City of Corner Brook.
