When three strange women suggest to a powerful military man that he will become king, he resolves to murder the king to fulfil what he believes to be his fate. Once he has the crown, however, he must follow a nightmarish path that gets bloodier and bloodier in order to keep it. In a society where second place is often unacceptable, and where fifteen minutes of fame is often worth any sacrifice, political corruption, lies, betrayals and murder have become the survival tools of the elite. Shakespeare’s Macbeth, presented by Grenfell’s theatre program, shines a discerning light on those who seek to gain and keep power at any price, even if it means taking on fate itself in a bloody battle to the death.
