SUMMARY:Wild Refuge By Jessica Reid Thomas
DESCRIPTION:Watercolour Painting Exhibition in The Tina Dolter Gallery\, Located in The Rotary Arts Centre\nOn Display from July 29th – Sept. 15th 2026 \nJessica Reid Thomas’s work explores the interconnectivity of ecosystems and her own place in them. She is particularly interested in the symbiosis of indigenous plant species and what we can learn from them and apply to our human relationships. By careful observation of shifting light\, forms\, colours\, and textures\, she seeks to capture a raw beauty that is often overlooked and under appreciated. \nJessica aims to engage local community members and discuss the intersections of disability\, environment\, and non-toxic art practices. By publicly discussing MCS and her art making\, she is creating a space for other sensitive individuals. Her project aims to increase accessibility by providing representation for artists with environmental disabilities and advocating for safer\, non-toxic spaces within the cultural sector.

SUMMARY:ACC Presents: Don't Tell The Newfoundlanders
DESCRIPTION:The true story\, drawn from official documents and hours of personal interviews\, of how Newfoundland and Labrador joined Confederation and became Canada’s tenth province in 1949. A rich cast of characters—hailing from Britain\, America\, Canada and Newfoundland—battle it out for the prize of the resource-rich\, financially solvent\, militarily strategic island. The twists and turns are as dramatic as any spy novel and extremely surprising\, since the “official” version of Newfoundland history has held for over fifty years almost without question. Don’t Tell the Newfoundlanders will change all that. Join us for this film screening following a Q&A with actor Greg Malone.

DESCRIPTION:Obsession is a 2025 horror film that follows Bear\, who buys a toy that grants his wish for his friend Nikki to fall in love with him. \nCOME EARLY FOR THE PRE-SHOW!!! \nWe show content related to the movie about a half an hour before the film begins. \nRuntime: 1 hour and 49 minutes \nContent Warning: Rated R for strong bloody violence\, grisly images\, sexual content\, pervasive language\, and brief graphic nudity. \nSummary: Obsession is a 2025 American supernatural horror film written\, directed\, and edited by Curry Barker. Cooper Tomlinson\, Megan Lawless\, and Andy Richter appear in supporting roles. \nA YouTube sketch comedian\, Barker uploaded his short horror film The Chair to his channel in 2023. When producer James Harris approached him to adapt it into a feature film\, Barker took the opportunity to pitch Obsession\, a different film idea of his partly inspired by The Simpsons episode “Treehouse of Horror II”. A critical and commercial success\, it grossed $519 million worldwide and set multiple box-office records as the tenth highest-grossing film of 2026 and fifth highest-grossing horror film of all time\, unadjusted for inflation.
