Ancient Relations – From Persia to Newfoundland

From the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto to the West Coast of Newfoundland, comes a unique experience where musical cultures meet and play together in an intimate and beautiful environment. Audiences will hear chamber music rooted in Persian classical scales featuring kamanche, the Persian spiked fiddle, played by Shahriyar Jamshidi, and the western cello, played by Rafael Weinroth-Browne, from the Toronto-based duo Kamancello. The Atlantic String Quartet

The Atlantic String Quartet returns to Corner Brook to play classical music and a selection of folk and jazz tunes in the intimate and interactive settings of the Convent in Corner Brook, and St. Pat’s in Woody Point. The quartet’s violinists Heather Kao and Nancy Case-Oates, violist Kate Read, and cellist Theo Weber are from Newfoundland, the UK, and the US. You can expect the best from Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra's principle string players.
