Free Transit For Eligible Residents
The City of Corner Brook will provide free bus passes to eligible residents, enhancing accessibility to public transportation. This initiative aims to support residents on income support, youth receiving youth services, and seniors receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS). The program is made possible through generous funding from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Residents on income support and youth receiving youth services will be contacted directly by their provincial representatives. Seniors receiving GIS can obtain their monthly passes by visiting City Hall. A government-issued ID and proof of GIS will be required (proof of receipt from Service Canada – if you need it mailed, call 1-800-277-9914). Passes can be renewed monthly through the online system or at City Hall. Questions about the program can be forwarded to The City at 709-637-1666.
On-Demand Accessible Transit
The City of Corner Brook is thrilled to announce the launch of a new on-demand, door-to-door service for accessible transit users called the Corner Brook Transit (CBT) Link. This service will start operating on July 2, 2025.
To use the service, eligible riders must complete an application form. This form can be obtained by calling 709-637-1666 or downloading the PDF. A health care professional (such as a family physician, social worker, physiotherapist, mental health professional, or occupational therapist) must complete Section 2 of the form.
Residents who are already registered for our subsidized taxi pilot program do not need to reapply. Beginning on July 2, eligible individuals can call (709) 639-7287 to request a ride. The van will transport users anywhere within the city limits during regular service hours.
Once approved for On-Demand Accessible Transit, riders are required to pay the transit fare or purchase an M-Card as detailed below. Riders eligible for the free transit program should refer to the section above to determine if it applies.
