Across the province, general municipal elections are held every four years on the last Tuesday in September. In Corner Brook, voters choose one Mayor and six Councillors for City Council. Corner Brook operates under an “at-large” system in which its elected officials are elected to represent the City as a whole.
The Municipal Elections Act is established by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and outlines the administrative structure and requirements of the municipal election process. Under the Act, the City Clerk is responsible for conducting the elections in the City of Corner Brook.

Thursday, October 2, 2025
Polls open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m.
Elected Municipal Positions
The following roles will be filled through the 2025 municipal election:
- One Mayor, elected at large
- Six Councillors, elected at large
Voter Information
You are eligible to vote in the Corner Brook Municipal Election if:
- You are a Canadian Citizen;
- You are 18 years of age or older on or before October 2 2025;
- You have been ordinarily resident for the 30 days immediately before September 2nd, 2025
Residents have several options to vote:
- In person
- Vote by Proxy
- Advance Polls (Tuesday, September 23rd & Saturday, September 27th)
- Vote by Mail

Candidate Information
The Returning Officer is hosting an Information Session for those who are interested in running for Council on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall
The period to be nominated as candidate is August 28th, 2025 to September 4th, 2025 (excluding Saturday, Sunday and the Labour Day Holiday on September 1st). Nominations will be accepted between 9am – 4pm during this time at the Corner Brook Curling Club.
