To qualify for a 15% Senior’s Discount on their residential property taxes, residents must be receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS). They must either be living in their property or the property must be vacant; the property cannot be rented to others or occupied by family members. Applicants are required to provide proof of GIS, which they can obtain from Service Canada. It has come to our attention that the Service Canada toll‑free number listed on the City’s Senior’s Discount Application contained an incorrect final digit.
