The 2026 Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games Host Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Cassidy Mercer as Games Manager for the 2026 NL Summer Games, which will mark the 50th anniversary of the Newfoundland and Labrador Games.
The Games will take place in Corner Brook from Saturday, August 8 to Saturday, August 15, 2026, bringing together more than 1600 athletes from across the province, along with coaches, volunteers, and fans, for a week-long celebration of sport, community, and tradition.
Cassidy Mercer brings valuable experience in volunteer management and event coordination to the NL Summer Games. Most recently, she served as Volunteer Coordinator for the 2025 Canada Games in St. John’s, where she successfully led the recruitment, training, and support of thousands of volunteers.
She has also worked with Skills Canada Newfoundland & Labrador, developing programs and partnerships that supported youth and community organizations across the province. With a background in Therapeutic Recreation and certifications in leadership, diversity, and mental health, Cassidy is passionate about creating inclusive, community-driven events that leave a lasting impact.
As Games Manager, Mercer will oversee all operational and strategic aspects of the 2026 Games.

For five decades, the Newfoundland and Labrador Games have brought together young athletes from every region to compete, connect, and celebrate the spirit of sport. Communities rally behind the Games, creating memories that last long after the competition ends and inspiring a love for sport that continues to grow.
The 2026 edition will build on this legacy, uniting Corner Brook, Stephenville, and the entire province in celebrating 50 years of the Newfoundland and Labrador Games.
