In consultation with Provincial Officials, the City has been advised it can reopen public facilities for the time-being while still conserving power wherever possible. The Civic Centre and Marina Redmond Centre will open at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 25th, and pool operations will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Outdoor lighting at our park spaces will remain turned off. City Staff will continue correspondence with our provincial counterparts and follow their advice going forward.

At this time, we are in a Power Warning and the situation has not been escalated to a Power Emergency. To avoid a Power Emergency, residents can play a role by conserving energy where at all possible. Limit use during peak hours, turn off non-essential power drawing devices and lights. In the event a Power Emergency is necessary, and periodic blackouts occur, these blackouts will be only an hour at length at a time. We encourage residents to check on neighbours and vulnerable individuals in your vicinity and be mindful of your power consumption.
